The Van Vihar National Park Bhopal administration is going to bring two male gharials in the park. Till now tourists of Van vihar were seeing only female gharials but now they can have a look at a male gharial as well. Besides, the park is expected to receive a tiger from Assam shortly.

The two male gharials are going to be brought from the Jaipur zoo. The park management has completed full planning to bring these aquatic animals. After 10-12 years, the male gharials are going to be brought to Van Vihar. Total 12 gharials were in Van Vihar 12 years back, of which only six are present now.

A park team will depart next week to the Jaipur zoo to bring the male gharials. The team has not left uptil now, due to shortage of employees in the park. The Central Zoo Authority (CZA), Delhi has given permission to bring male gharials to the park. After the permission, the park management has started the preparations to bring the male gharials in the park. The management has made four metre-long crate of iron and ply, in which the gharials will be brought to Bhopal.

The purpose of bringing the gharials is for increasing the number of gharial population in the park. The tourists of Van Vihar are eager to see the male gharials in Van Vihar because till now they have being seing only female gharials. The tourists who are fond of watching new animals are now eagerly awaiting the arrival of the male gharials.

The Van Vihar team is preparing a place for the new visitors to keep them on the safeguarded place from where the tourists can have a perfect and safety look on them.

Recently, the park administration had brought two female gaurs (Indian bison) from Kanha, but unfortunately one of the gaurs had got injured in the process and laterdied during treatment.

Moreover, preparations are also on to transfer a Royal Bengal tiger from Assam to Van Vihar by next week. The request to transfer the striped feline to Van Vihar Zoo came to the Centre towards the end of last year through the Delhi-based Central Zoo Authority. However, the transfer was delayed because of some problems. The Central Zoo Authority extended permission for the transfer by six months and the CWRC is now planning to transfer the big cat by the end of next week.
